70 Lewis

Cleveland, Ohio

70 Lewis is a pop-piano-rock band from Cleveland, Ohio, formed by friends who grew up together and attended Lakewood High School. Active for five years following their formation, the band released their debut album East Coast Sunday Morning in 2010.

In 2020, lead singer Mike Gray and guitarist Scott Young reconnected creatively, writing and recording new material that became The Briefcase. In 2024, the full band reunited, celebrating the 15th anniversary of East Coast Sunday Morning with expanded releases including pre-production demos and live recordings, as well as East Coast Sunday Sessions featuring additional archival material.

Now fully active again, 70 Lewis is promoting their new album The Briefcase and the single “Blue Skies,” while continuing to write new music, prepare an upcoming EP, and perform live.

Press / Reviews

“A collection of Flaming Lips-like tunes, the release showcases the group’s ability to deliver accessible indie rock.” - Jeff Niesel

— Cleveland Scene

“There is no doubt that the Lakewood school system and the variety of programs Lakewood offers have helped 70 Lewis build a band based on friendship that goes beyond musicianship, almost to a brotherhood.”

— Lakewood Observer

“The band quickly notes that it speaks in two languages — lyrically with emotive pop tales about life's highs and lows, and subtly with musicianship: complex, harmonious, piano-fronted rock. They hope the latter will impress the most detailed listener. The former will undoubtedly melt your heart.”

— Sun Post

“It rocks a little bit more. It has more of an edge to it than to most piano rock.”
